This episode is all about holistic health and fitness with a special focus on cycle syncing, endurance, and well-being.

How does it impact training and nutrition?

Cycle syncing is crucial, aligning training with menstrual cycle phases. First half: focus on strength. Pre-ovulation: hit PRs and race pace. Post-ovulation: shift to tempo running and endurance. Week before period: emphasize skill and lower intensity. Personally, it helps manage menstrual migraines and optimize performance.

Mental health is a significant part of overall well-being. How does it intersect with your coaching philosophy?

Absolutely, mental health is personal for me. Diagnosed with mild PTSD from the military, later identified as complex PTSD. Trauma therapy played a pivotal role. It's crucial to address mental health beyond medication, exploring talking therapies, and developing a growth mindset. Understanding trauma helps me empathize with clients and foster a non-judgmental approach.

In your coaching, do you work with a specific demographic or a variety of fitness levels?

I work with both high-intensity athletes and those new to fitness. Sustainability is key; crash diets and extreme approaches can lead to low energy availability. I tailor plans to individual goals, whether it's high-intensity racing or weight management.

In terms of nutrition, how does your approach differ based on training phases and the menstrual cycle?

Nutrition varies with training phases. In the first half, focus on carb loading for long runs. In the second half, prioritize protein to support uterine lining and overall activity. It's about adapting to the body's changing needs throughout the menstrual cycle.

Josie’s closing words: Self-love is essential. Shift from a mindset of fixing flaws to celebrating strengths. Embrace abundance by aligning your goals, valuing priorities, and ensuring everything is in harmony.
